Der Verein wurde am 6. November 1887 in der St. Mary\u2019s Hall an der East Rose Street von Bruder Walfrid als Celtic Football and Athletic Club gegr\u00fcndet. Bruder Walfrids Beweggrund war, die Armut im vorwiegend von irischen Einwanderern bewohnten Glasgower East End zu bek\u00e4mpfen.\n<\/p>\n<p>Der Club hat den offiziellen Spitznamen \u201eThe Bhoys\u201c, seine Mannschaft tr\u00e4gt ihre Heimspiele in gr\u00fcn-wei\u00df quergestreiften Trikots im seit einigen Jahren 60.355 Pl\u00e4tze umfassenden Celtic Park  im Stadtteil Bridgeton\/Parkhead aus.
